Restaurants and Bars
Below is a list of restaurants we have found so far listed by location. Just about everywhere we have been has been good and local, traditional French mountain cuisine is the norm.
A more comprehensive list will be available in the information folder in the Gites.
Gouaux de Larboust
Hotel Sarat -Our local bar and restaurant is a small bar no more than 12 feet away from the Gites! The owner Pierre is a very friendly guy who runs the place and offers good basic home cooking. Let him know in advance if you are wanting to eat there (he does not speak any English). Busy in winter, quiet in summer.
Billierre
Ferme D'Espui - A quaint farmhouse / barn converted into a family run restaurant. Traditional mountain food using local ingredients. Good rustic home cooked food, in a lovely setting this is one of our favourites. It is possible to walk for the active(approx 50 minutes walk) Gets quite popular so booking is recommended . Open all year.
From the Gites head into Garin. Turn left at the tabac towards Billierre. The retsaurnat is in the small hamlet of Billierre 1km from Garin. Approx 5 minutes drive from the Gites.

Cazeaux de L’Arbourst
Hotel La Fondere – Located in on the main road towards Luchon. Traditional regional food only open in summer. Approx 5 minutes drive from the Gites.
Artigues
Haut Paturages - – Located in the village of Artigues high above the valley overlooking Luchon. Good quality traditional mountain cuisine in lovely surroundings all set against magnificent views. A great choice for a summer lunch. (Ask for a tabel by the window) Closed in Winter. Approx 30 minutes drive from the Gites. Tel 05 61 79 10 47
Luchon
There is quite a selection of cafes and restaurants in Luchon, many of them along the main street. Here are just a few we have tried but there are more to discover.
Pizza Place - Located on the main Avenue D’Etigny. Good quality traditional pizza restaurant.
Pizza Pica – Located at the far end of Avenue D’Etigny on the left approaching the thermal spa. Excellent pizzas plus a few other choices
Le Pailhet - Located opposite the railway station on Ave du Marechal Foch. Good quality local, traditional food, Limited choice from a couple of fixed menus. Place de Barcugnas - 05 61 88 91 28
Metropole -
Cafe de la Paix - Trendy bar/restaurant with good choice of modern and traditional dishes. On main avenue.
Hotel de deux Nations - Located on a side street just off the main avenue Traditiional well cooked food.
La Bodega - Spanish food, located on a quiet side street just off the main avenue about half way along
Shopping

Supermarkets - Luchon
Intermarche, Located 1km further on from the train station - Typical large French supermarket selling just about everything you will need. Open 7.30am to 7.30pm Monday to Saturday
Casino, Medium sized town centre supermarket on Avenue d'etigny carries most supplies, useful if you are in town anyway and the only place open Sunday mornings
Lidl, Located on main road coming into Luchon from Toulouse direction- Basic, budget supermarket, not great choice but good for stocking up on certain items.
Grocers, Fish Shop, Bakery, Butchers, etc - Luchon
A good selection of quality independent traditional shops can be found near the market place in the old part of Luchon and near the southern end of the main road through town. the quality is usually excellent and the service friendly.
Tabac & General store, Garin
In the village of Garin which is the first village you come to on the road into Luchon 3km from the Gites you will find a Tabac / general store which also has bread and basic supplies as well as replacement gas should bottles need replacing
